My Best Advice
“I could really tell how much this toy means to you! You did a great job at telling the story and connecting it to how it helped you whenever you were stressed or anxious. Maybe you could show the audience the toy when you start your thesis so it is easier to imagine. And maybe you can cut out the filler words like “um”. I know this is really tough to do because I struggle with this too. I think it’s worth it though because it will make the story stronger.”
Why It’s My Best Advice
I would consider the previous passage my best advice so far in this course. This is because it highlights the importance of not using filler words that can contribute to the loss of the audience’s attention. Using filler words can make the main points less strong and clear. It is critical to avoid using works like “um” in a speech.
Best Advice From My Peers
“Angelite is a gorgeous stone- I also have some! I think your speech is well written, and it was engaging to listen to. I agree with Wylie that eye contact would help with the delivery, though looking into a camera to film can be a hard task. I also think outlining specific points, and condensing the speech may help, as at some points it felt like you were searching for words about the stone. Overall, though, I think this was a really good job.”
Why It’s Their Best Advice
This is my peer’s best advice because they mention the lack of eye contact in my speech. This can be hard for me, but I was able to correct it. This advice also highlighted the importance of creating an outline which allows the speech to have order and flow. This advice was most helpful to me in the course. Feedback like this can really elevate a speech.
My Biggest Strides
I saw a lot of growth and improvement in speech two. This speech was about explaining the significance of an object that hold sentimental value. I saw a big shift in the organization of my outline. This made my final flow more and be less awkward. For my final, I decided to dive more into the sentimental value this object held and why the memories attached to it made it so important.

I got a lot of helpful feedback on this speech. The feedback included lack of eye contact, repetition, and lack or organization. I decided to go back and focus on eye contact with the camera. I also decided to conclude the speech with why this object brings up so many good memories. You can see this at 1:07 in the video. I decide to tie up my speech with explaining the feelings it brings back to me whenever I hold the crystal.
